First Visit

What will happen on my first visit with Toronto Chiropractors Dr. Halpern and Dr. Najafian?

Toronto Chiropractor Dr. Mark Halpern, Dr Najafian or Dr. Johnson from Focused On Health, will sit down with you on the first chiropractic visit and discuss your relevant health concerns in an initial consultation. He will explore what led you to consider chiropractic care, how the condition started, what it feels like, what you’ve done about it so far, and what may have worked or not worked in the past. If after discussing your condition it seems that it may be helped by chiropractic care, The Doctors will perform an examination to test your range of motion, orthopedic, and neurological capabilities. At the end of your first visit, you will be scheduled for a report of findings visit. This follow up visit is a second consultation in which Dr. Halpern or Dr. Najafian will review the results of your examinations and tests with you.

Brief Paperwork

Upon entering the office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.

Consultation

Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.

History and Examination

In order to determine what your actual problem is, the Doctor will ask you various questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

X-ray Studies

Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.

Same Day Treatment

Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, the Doctor will discuss your care schedule with you. In cases of emergency or acute injuries, care will be provided with their first visit. This may include spinal adjustments and soft tissue therapies.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
